Poetry Notebook - Due Friday!

Students in Language Arts are piecing together their Poetry Notebook for Friday's due date!  The Poetry book must include the following, two poems identifying rhyme scheme,one free verse poem with a paragraph about why you like it, A song that you found on azlyrics identifying Metaphors, similes, imagery, alliteration, and repetition, and also four poems that they wrote!! Limerick, I am, Diamante, If I were in charge of the world. Our students get to have some fun also decorating there very own poetry books. This will be an exiting turn out to see what they come up with, and to see their own unique personalities!! =) Authors: Kelly and Rachael

The Big One!

The big one is upon us! Students in Ms. Vanni's Language Arts class have been undertaking one of their first research projects at Shadow Ridge. Over the past few weeks students have used a combination of printed and online materials to secure more information about a selected topic. An important component is for the students to learn how to create a work cited page ensuring credit of ideas to the respective author(s). Stay tuned for another update.

Why was 9news weatherperson Marty Coniglio at Shadow Ridge Middle School on Tuesday afternoon? Mr. Coniglio shared his knowledge of weather and the physical sciences with the entire 6th grade as part of Shadow Ridge's new weather station! Here is a quick clip of his appearance. Mayan Social Pyramid

Be careful not to mistake this Torrey's Peak Social Studies class for Mayan rulers, priests, nobles, merchants, artisans, peasants, or slaves!

Students are investigating the ancient Mayan city of Tikal and the Temple of the Jaguar to better understand roles and responsibilities of the Mayan Social Pyramid. Can you list three duties/responsibilities of each social class?!
